Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

God’s medicine for worry is prayer. Nothing is too small or mundane to pray about!

But it is a specific kind of prayer that God wants; prayer with thanksgiving! Learn to thank God for everything—difficulties as well as blessings!

Why difficulties? We must remember that being a Christian during the time this book was written was a very worrisome thing. There was great persecution. Paul said there is nothing too great or too small for his Father’s care.

We can bring our prayers, our supplications and our requests to God. We can pray for forgiveness for the past, for what we need in the present and for help and guidance for the future.

We can pray for others. We can ask God to care for those near and far…those who are within our memories and our hearts.

The way to peace is, of course, through prayer – to entrust ourselves and all we hold dear to the loving hands of God.
